Everything from the video in one place: the starter template, the exact prompts I ran on screen, and the plugin rules you can paste in today.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Download the starter template

This is the master rulebook ChatGPT Work reads before every single task, written entirely in plain English.

AGENTS.md Starter Template

  1. In the Google Doc, click File → Download → Markdown (.md).
  2. Rename the downloaded file to AGENTS.md exactly. Not AGENT, not AGENTS1.
  3. Create a folder anywhere on your desktop and call it something like [Your Name] WorkOS.
  4. Move AGENTS.md into that folder.
  5. In the ChatGPT desktop app, make sure Work is selected, then choose that folder as your Project.

Once your folder is mounted, ChatGPT Work reads AGENTS.md before it does anything. Without a mounted folder, you are basically using regular ChatGPT.

Step 2: The prompts

Teach it a rule it remembers forever. Run this in a chat with your folder mounted, and ChatGPT Work writes the rule into AGENTS.md itself.

Teach it how you use a specific app. Same pattern, but the rule governs a connected plugin instead of a general task.
